Leonard Dicaprio Blackadore Caye
Committed environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio owns Blackadore Caye in Belize.
DiCaprio opts to fly commercial instead of chartering jets, drives a hybrid car and has solar panels on his house. Notorious romancer DiCaprio is more committed to the environment than any one woman. He is frequently featured in the tabloids getting in or out of relationships with various models. Clearly, he has a penchant for beautiful things evidenced by his purchase of Blackadore Cay in 2005.
Dicaprio discovered 104 acre Blackadore Cay in 2004 while staying at the luxe Cayo Espanto – a private island resort nearby. DiCaprio bought Blackadore Caye with Cayo Espanto owner Jeff Gram for just under $2 million. The co-owners are working with the Four Seasons Hotels to create a five-star luxury resort based on conscientious design and environmental conservation on the tropical island.
Nearby Cayo Espanto
DiCaprio’s private island is located between the mainland and Ambergris Caye, just minutes away from the world famous Belize Barrier Reef, home of the famous diving spot, the Blue Hole. The natural and unspoiled beauty of the island will be integrated into the eco luxury private island resort. DiCaprio wants to lead the way with innovated green technology that incorporated natural energy sources like water, sun and wind. The private island will also include a solar-paneled airstrip to provide additional power.
